JOB DESCRIPTION

Public.com is seeking an ambitious and technically strong Senior Data Platform Engineer to join their Platform team in Copenhagen. At Public, it is all about building the best possible environment for growth, for the users of their investing platform as well as for the internal teams shaping it. As a key member of the team, you will help design, build, and scale the core of Public’s data platform, setting the direction for how data is leveraged across the company.

In this role, you will take on some of the most exciting and complex data challenges from large scale batch ingestion to real time streaming of price data and create solutions that empower analytics engineers and developers to work smarter, faster, and more efficiently. Developers are Public’s most important internal customers, and your work will directly shape their experience, productivity, and ability to innovate.

You will join a specialized and central team that has evolved from simply supporting developers to driving innovation and building production ready solutions that fuel Public’s growth. Here, you will be trusted with ownership and given the freedom to drive projects end to end, all while balancing innovation with reliability, scalability, and performance.

Your primary tasks and areas of responsibility:

• Architect, provision, and maintain core data infrastructure.
• Work with data orchestration platforms such as Dagster and Prefect.
• Optimize platform performance and data pipelines to remove bottlenecks.
• Build monitoring and alerting systems to ensure data reliability and freshness.
• Develop data tools, services, and best practices while collaborating cross-functionally.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate is expected to have a BA or MA level in Computer Science or another relevant field, but experience from a similar role is more important.

The ideal candidate is curious, passionate about data engineering, and eager to stay up to date with the latest tools, technologies, and best practices in the field. The role requires someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and continuously seeks opportunities to improve and innovate within data solutions.

Furthermore it is expected that you possess:

• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, plus one statically typed language (Go, C, Java, etc.).
• Experience with distributed computing (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and stream processing (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink).
• Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (Postgres, MySQL, DynamoDB, etc.) and data warehouses (Snowflake is our primary).
• Familiarity with orchestration (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect) and CI/CD workflows.
• Fluency in English is essential. Danish is an advantage but not a requirement.
